Mary Poppins, the fictional character from P L Travers’ book, is full of delightful contradictions. On the one hand, she’s firm, strict and doesn’t tolerate any nonsense; but on the other, she’s caring, loving and has that famous sparkle of magic about her. Whilst we couldn’t describe ourselves as ‘practically perfect in every way’, our clients do say nice things about us and do describe us as having a magic wand – just to get everything done!
In fact, being firm and strict is something that comes out most when we are advocating for our clients. Because we care for each client, we can be rather like a “momma bear” – we will make sure that no one is messing them about and we will be sure to tell them if we think they are.
